President's Day in Pagosa Springs, CO

President's Day in Pagosa Springs, Colorado
We took our first vacation since having Easton. We drove 9 hours to Pagosa Springs to meet up with our friends Jason and Kelli who live in Denver. We left on Thursday afternoon and drove 5 hours to Kayenta, AZ. We stayed overnight there then drove the rest of the way on Friday. We stopped for a couple of hours in Durango which was great. What a cute little town! We all got to the cabin, including Jay and Kell's friends Darrin and Lea, around 6 pm. Our cabin was great. A small two bedroom with a pullout bed in the living room. It was super cute and very clean. We met a new friend there too. The neighbors had a beautiful husky. We called him Balto but don't think that was his actual name. He came around a few times a day to check on Maggie, J and Kell's maltipooh.
The boys hit the grocery store for supplies. Saturday the boys all went up to the ski hill, Wolf Creek, and had an amazing day of skiing. It was dumping snow all day long and they came back just exhausted. Us girls went into town and had some lunch, hit the local bakery and picked up a pizza for dinner. Darrin and Lea had to leave on Sunday so Kell and I packed up our snowboarding gear. The boys and Easton came along with good intentions of snowshoeing.
Needless to say Easton cried for 45 minutes after I left to go up the hill. Poor Larry sat in the truck with a screaming baby while Kelli and I hit the slopes. It was a beautiful sunny day! We did so great snowboarding. We even went up the big lift to the summit at 12,000 feet! I almost go a little woozie as we went up the chairlift.
We packed up the car on Monday morning, had some breakfast with Jay and Kell at the local breakfast stop then hit the road. We drove all 9 hours back home that day. Easton did great until the last 20 minutes of the drive when he started crying. Overall it was a great trip. According to both Larry and I we had our best days skiing/snowboarding ever! We hope to make it an annual trip.

Glad to hear you enjoyed Pagosa and Durango. Durango is where Marcie and I lived for 6 years or so. It's where we got married and where both boys were born. Larry needs to ride there in the summer...it would take all summer though.
