Average but Extraordinary

We had Easton's 18 month well visit today with Dr. Winterland. Let me start by saying that I couldn't be more happy with our choice of pediatricians. She starts off by asking, "Were you at the zoo running on Tuesday? I kept saying to myself, I think that was Easton in that orange stroller." Turns out we were at the zoo running on Tuesday and must have run right by. I was impressed she even recognized us let alone remembered his name. We just love her to pieces.

When it comes to height, weight, and head circumference Easton is in the AVERAGE range at 50%. Although I would not put him in the average category at all. I am his mother and a bit bias but here is what makes him extraordinary!

1. He still can recognize a Prius anywhere on the road and scream "DADDY CAR".
2. He refuses to walk anywhere now that he can run.
3. I stopped counting the words he knows now that he is repeating everything.
4. Can those eyes get any more beautiful?
5. He hears a truck from anywhere in the house, runs to the window yelling "garbage truck".
6. Stacks blocks like a true champ......9 the other day!
7. Is putting up to 3 words together. His favorite is "Orange Mommy Car".
8. Naps for 3+ hours almost daily..........Mommy is happy about this!
9. Loves the outdoors like his daddy.
10. Still will eat anything we put in front of him.

His latest favorite thing is going through my bra drawer saying "baa, baa". I did not stage the photo above. He had two pair of underwear around his neck (can't really see them) and two bra's in his hands. Daddy's remark, "That's my boy."

He loves to play with balls still of any kind. He is learning to catch and hit his ball off of the tee. It's a slow process but we are getting there.

Easton took his second real gymnastics class this past week. He was not very fond of having to follow the directions and do the activities set up by the teacher. He would rather run around like a crazy man. Miss Kay says that he will get the hang of it and at 18 months all of them have trouble when they first start. I look at the 2.5 year olds in the class and am amazed at their ability to follow directions.

Where has the time gone? A year and a half already? We are content with where we are as a family and are making the best of every day and new experience with Easton.

Easter Fun

We had a fun filled weekend. Larry's sister, Trina, was here visiting for a week from Oregon. Our nephew Noah came up for the night on Friday night. He helped dye Easter eggs. We took him to dinner at Fudruckers for his 10th birthday and ended the evening with an ice cream cake from Culvers! On Sunday we went to breakfast at our favorite spot, The Good Egg, and had a little egg hunt for Easton in the front yard. He was really disappointed when there was nothing in the eggs. We did an egg hunt on Friday with Stroller Strides where he figured out what jelly beans were! He would open every egg that he found in the yard only to be disappointed yet again!

Photos above: Mommy and Easton dying eggs.
Easton was not a fan of hard boiled eggs.

Our natural egg dying kit from Boutiful Baskets. We boiled the veggies/fruit in water and added vingear then soaked the eggs like normal. Blue:blueberries, Red: beets, green: spinach, orange: red chilis

Reading with Auntie Trina (Easton kept getting this nasty rash on his cheeks from diving onto the couch from the arm rest)

Checking out what was in his basket. Books of course.
